A Panel Discussion: Election Entitlements and Consequences of Postponement

A panel discussion was held in the city of Benghazi on Wednesday morning, April 7, 2021, entitled: Election entitlements and consequences of postponement, sponsored by the Libya Institute for Advanced Studies, and with the participation of a group of professors, experts, youth, and members of the December 24 Movement.

The meeting was divided into two sessions. In the first session, Dr. Zahi Al-Mughairbi gave an intervention entitled:   Legislative Entitlement: The Constitutional Rule and Election Law. Dr. Abeer Amnina presented a paper entitled: Awareness and Oversight Civil Entitlement, and Dr.’s paper was read. Al-Koni Aboudah entitled “The Constitutional Framework for Electoral Entitlement”.

Dr. Yahya Al-Jadeed, Director General of the High National Elections Commission, also participated remotely via the Zoom platform, in which he spoke about organizational entitlement and the readiness of the Elections Commission. The first session, which was moderated by Mrs. Hala Al-Atrash, was enriched with questions, comments, and additions from the audience.

In the second session, which was moderated by Mrs. Mabrouka Al-Werfalli, Dr. Jazia Shaiteer gave an intervention on the security entitlement. A recorded intervention by Ms. Azza Al-Maqhour on the international entitlement was presented visually. Mr. Khaled Bouzakouk spoke about the consequences of postponement and the consequences of failure to meet the entitlements. The attendees enriched the meeting with useful and important interventions and comments.
