Welcome to the Libya Institute for Advanced Studies (LIAS), Libya’s first private institute of learning to be launched at this critical time in Libya’s history.

Over the past few decades, many of Libya’s education institutions have been stretched by student growth, poor management and rigid curricula that do not promote cutting edge and critical thinking. At LIAS we believe such challenges are not insurmountable. Our vision is to be internationally recognized as a premier educational institute committed to building a prosperous Libya that provides an exceptional education to all Libyans, allows them to reach their full potential, and preserves Libya’s heritage. We offer education and training to Libya’s next generation of leaders through internationally recognized programs that prepare individuals to be active contributors to their communities and country.

Our institution is designed to transition Libya towards a knowledge economy where economic growth and social development is heavily reliant on the skills of individuals and their participation in lifelong learning. We recognize that knowledge is critical to our students for employment, in applying research to solve Libya’s immediate and critical challenges, and in forming mutually beneficial partnerships with communities. Our teaching and research structure and approach are designed to meet these challenges.

LIAS’ courses are forward-looking ranging from professional education to degree programs that emphasize critical inquiry and innovation. LIAS is committed to providing students with the information they need to succeed in today’s social, political, and economic climate and skills that will help them adapt to the demands of the future.
