On Thursday, the third day of February, the Libya Academy for Advanced Studies organized a lecture entitled: (Bacterial Contamination is a Major Danger) presented by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ramadan Al-Saqr, Lecturer at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Tripoli.
The lecture was held on the occasion of World Cancer Day, and several research and studies were discussed and presented, including a reference to germs and their types, types of bacteria and stages of their spread, the negative effect of antibiotics, some bacterial disease cases, the dangers of germs and mechanisms of pathogenicity, and a brief explanation of the Corona virus.
It was also a presentation of several research papers on the water and food pollution that our country suffers from, and a presentation of the rates of viral contamination affecting some marine species of crustaceans, which were found to be infected with the hepatitis A virus.
The reason for this pollution affecting marine species is due to the lack of treatment of wastewater, as well as pollution found in local and imported food commodities.
The lecturer concluded by presenting recommendations that were the result of much research and studies carried out by professors and students in various scientific facilities.
