Today, Sunday, September 18, 2022, the Libya Academy for Advanced Studies organized a dialogue session in its hall in Benghazi on the occasion of the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer.
The meeting was organized and supervised by Ms. Hanan Al-Falah, and the meeting was moderated by Mr. Muhammad Abu Bakr Al-Zaidani, hosting with him Dr. Manal Hassan Al-Trabelsi, a faculty member in the Botany Department at the College of Science, University of Benghazi, and a researcher in the field of environmental sciences, pollution, and plant ecology.
The meeting was opened by Mr. Muhammad Al-Zidani, welcoming the guest and the attendees, speaking and introducing the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, and pointing to the global agreements to preserve it from carbon dioxide and toxic gases that have caused an imbalance in the natural system. After that, the conversation moved to Dr. Manal Al-Trabelsi, who also knew the meaning of the ozone layer. Its importance, ultraviolet radiation, the causes of ozone layer depletion, CFCs, their advantages and uses, and I touched on how CFCs work to destroy ozone. After that, I touched on the Montreal Protocol and what happened to the ozone layer from 1979 until today, and has the ozone layer recovered?
