Shield of Distinction and Excellence Awarded to a Young Lady for Overcoming an Extraordinary Challenge

The Shield of Distinction and Excellence was awarded to Miss Amina Sharif Al-Shen (17 years of age) for her extraordinary achievement of memorising the whole Quran by heart.

Even though such an achievement is fairly common in Libya, what distinguishes Amina is that she has to deal with the added challenge of  being autistic. The ceremony honouring her achievement took place at the office of Libya Institute for Advanced Studies (LIAS) in Benghazi, Libya. Amina’s mother and father were also awarded Certificates of Merit for their perseverance and excellence as caretakers. The awarding of this honour falls within LIAS’ general goal of supporting all symbols of hope, distinction, and growth, all of which are exemplified by Amina and her parents.
