Libya’s Channel and the Libya Institute for Advanced Studies (LIAS), in addition to other TV channels, received acclaim from the Libyan Minister of Education for their efforts in sustaining the educational process throughout the coronavirus pandemic. The acclamation came as part of the official minister’s speech in Benghazi on Wednesday 2020/08/05.
From the beginning of the pandemic lockdown, LIAS took the initiative and liaised with both the Ministry of Education and Libya’s Channel to lay out a response plan called “The Joint Academic Production Initiative” with the objective of producing and airing educational content that covers various educational levels ranging from primary-school to university level. The Ministry was quick to respond and offered its assistance in overcoming several obstacles and coordinated with various educational institutions. Libya’s Channel, on the other hand, made available daily programming slots that met the needs of students at different educational levels. Moreover, LIAS launched an educational platform on its website to enable easy access to the lectures and curricula content right after the coronavirus outbreak.

This initiative came in the context of LIAS’ broader goal of spreading knowledge and advancing education in Libya. It is also worth mentioning that the initiative was positively received among students of all levels.
