Workshop: The Libyan Social Contract

Libya Institute for Advanced Studies held a workshop on: the Libyan social contract, on the 29th of October 2017 after the seminar regarding the democratic process and the plan of the United Nations Support mission in Libya.

In the beginning, Dr. Aref Ali Nayed, Chairman, Libya institute for Advanced Studies, raised significant questions with regard to this topic, then Dr. Najib Alhasadi discussed the notion of the social contract and the Libyan identity. Following that, Dr. Mohamed Zahi Mogherbi talked about the social contract and the constitution, while Dr. Omelez Farsi discussed: would the social contract lay the foundation of the identity?

Other participants, tribal leaders, and activists attending the seminar contributed greatly to enriching the discussion, among whom were Dr. Ibrahim Boukhazam, Mrs. Zaineb Alzaydi, Dr. Alkouni Aabouda, Lawer Azza Almaghour, Mr. Mohamed Barghouthi, Mr. Moulay Akdidi, Mr. Fraj Yassine, Mrs. Salma Alshaab, and Dr.Abdallah Alathamna, among others.
