Works of the Libya Academy for Advanced Studies on the constitutional rule
- Supporting the Constituent Assembly for Drafting the Constitution by providing a set of equipment to document the body’s sessions. 2014.
- Intensive training for the staff of the founding body to use the equipment. 2014.
- Providing the Constituent Assembly for Drafting the Constitution with legal and technical consultations in a manner consistent with international best practices. The Academy has employed the services of Al-Maqhour & Partners Office for this initiative.
- Organizing a workshop on the constitution, in partnership with the Association of Libyan Scholars, April 2014.
- The Libyan Women’s Peace Conference, under the slogan: “Libyans between perception and reality,” January 2016. The meeting culminated in sending a final statement to the members of the founding body to draft the draft constitution, containing important observations related to the draft constitution, and important rules related to the constitution from the point of view of Libyan women.
- A symposium on the outcomes of the Constitution Working Committee, held in March 2016, to discuss the differences and agree on them, and to find common ground on the various articles and chapters in order to ensure their final adoption through a referendum. The symposium was attended by more than eighty thought leaders, members of the founding body, sheikhs and notables of the social fabric, in addition to researchers and specialists in constitutional affairs.
- Forming a reconciliation committee between the members of the Constitutional Commission and those who boycotted them, to bring viewpoints closer together, and a paper was issued in this regard. March 2016.
- Organizing a meeting between some sheikhs and notables of Libya and some members of the founding body for drafting the draft constitution, July 2016.
- A workshop entitled: Towards a Libyan social contract, in the presence of tribal sheikhs and peace activists, July 2016.
- Organizing “generational dialogue” events between tribal sheikhs representing the National Movement for Libya and a group of Libyan youth, November 2016.
- A workshop entitled: “The Role of Libyan Women in Peacemaking” in the presence of academic and civil women’s groups, November 2016.
- Workshop on the Libyan Social Contract, October 2017, and the importance of embodying this meaning in the constitution.
- Symposium on the Libyan Democratic Path and the Plan of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, October 2017, and the interventions were broadcast on the Libya Her Homeland Channel.
- Libyans and Identity Symposium, December 2017 This symposium is an academic dialogue that shed light on the issue of identity, its definition, its importance, its impact on the constitution and on societies, and how to spread public awareness about it and publish it in various media.
- A workshop entitled: Early parliamentary and presidential elections, “necessities and challenges.” December 2017.
- A panel discussion entitled: Election Entitlements and the Consequences of Postponement, April 2021, in which the constitutional rule, the constitutional framework, and the legislative entitlement were discussed.
In this context, and to support this path and raise awareness of its importance, and to contribute to providing knowledge in the hands of readers, the Libya Academy published several publications, in particular:
- Libya: From Revolutionary Legitimacy to Constitutional Legitimacy, printed lecture by Dr. Arif Nayed at Georgetown University in America on November 4, 2013.
- The Independence of Libya and the United Nations, written by: Adrian Belt. This book highlights the extensive process undertaken by Adrian Belt to request the contribution of Libyan towns, regions, and tribes in making the country’s founding constitution, and achieving Libya’s independence. (2016 in English, and 2020 in Arabic).
- Proceedings of the symposium on the Libyan democratic path and the plan of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, a collection of articles. (2020).
- The Libyan Constitutional Declaration and its amendments is a book that brings together complete texts of the Constitutional Declaration issued by the Transitional Council of 2011, with its amendments, from the First Amendment to the Eleventh Amendment, with the relevant decisions of the Supreme Court. (2021).
