The convention was named and modelled after The (First) Sirte Convention, which was held in 1922 and was instrumental in mending fences between Libyans . LIAS’ holds a strong conviction regarding the necessity of Libyan-Libyan dialog and the Libyan social fabric’s ability to make a positive impact on the Libyan scene, and its participation in The Second Sirte Convention comes as a manifestation of this conviction.
