Dr Aref Ali Nayed, Chairman of the Libya Institute for Advanced Studies (LIAS) and former Ambassador of Libya to the UAE, took part in a panel discussion on the “Future of Arab Diplomacy” at the 12th Annual Harvard Arab World Conference (HAWC) held at the Dead Sea in Jordan and organised by the Harvard Arab Alumni Association.
Other panel speakers included H.E Lakhdar Brahimi, United Nations and Arab League Envoy to Syria and former Minister of Foreign Affairs in Algeria, H.E. Marwan Muasher, Vice President for Studies at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Jordan, and chaired by H.E. Nabil Sharif, former Media Minister of Jordan. The veteran diplomats offered views, solutions, and insights on building a wholesome vision for the future of diplomacy in the Arab world, and practical ways in which diplomacy can continue to be a space of constructive bridge-building and cross-cultural communication.
