LIAS Participates in the Libyan and Mediterranean Maritime Borders Forum

Honouring an invitation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, LIAS participated in the 12th Political Forum. The event was held in the Economic Services Hall in Benghazi, Libya (2020/06/17).

The discussions in the Forum focused on the demarcation of the Libyan and Mediterranean maritime borders and the legal framework that governs their demarcation, including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (1982) and several other agreements that regulate Mediterranean maritime borders. The discussion, also covered the re-demarcation agreement that Turkey had signed with the de facto government in Tripoli, along with the circumstances that led to it and its consequences to the stability of the region.

The discussion featured, legal specialists, university professors and diplomats, and was headed by Ambassador Abdussalam Al-Ragei, with the cooperation of Mr. Salem Adam and Muhsin Al-Gathafi.
