In Cairo this morning, Dr Aref Nayed, Chairman of the Libya Institute for Advanced Studies, met with His Excellency Ghassan Salameh, Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General, and his deputy, Ms Stephanie Williams, to discuss the latest developments in the Libyan file in its various tracks.
Dr Nayed handed over official copies of the last two open letters he had addressed to Salameh in recent weeks, warning of the agreements between Fayez Sarraj and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, stressing their illegitimacy. Dr Aref further stressed the need on this very day, December 17, 2019 to prevent any further extension of power being granted to Sarraj and his government and their control over Libya’s financial destinies – this marking the end of the fourth year of his rule.
Dr Nayed met yesterday with His Excellency Chancellor Aguila Saleh Issa, speaker of the Libyan parliament, to consult and inform him of the results of several meetings and international contacts regarding the demonstration of legitimacy of the Libyan parliament, its government and its army, and to demonstrate the end of the legitimacy of the government of national accord and its presidential council.
