LIAS organized a symposium entitled: Empowering Women in the Social Scale

The Libya Institute for Advanced Studies, in cooperation with the Libya Bani Walid Revival Bloc, organized a women’s symposium entitled: Empowering Women in the Social Scale.

The symposium was attended by a group of women teachers, nurses, housewives and interested parties.

Several topics of high importance that women face in the contemporary time were discussed, most notably widows, divorcees, and wives of people with disabilities, starting with the deteriorating living conditions, the ways of self-sufficiency that women should achieve in their families and surroundings, and the need for support from governments in establishing small and medium projects. To achieve a decent and safe life for herself and her family

There was also talk about the mechanisms that women should develop themselves to contribute to development, creating generations, advancing society, consolidating values and morals, promoting community peace, promoting charitable work, and educating on methods of family counseling and conflict resolution, amid contemporary challenges and the acceleration of technology and means of communication, and the fractures and fragmentation they cause to families. Towards qualifying distinguished and conscious women leaders.

The societal problems that women are exposed to were also discussed, including deprivation of their rights to inheritance, some bad customs towards them, and society and government’s neglect of their problems and the difficulties that women face in life.
