Translated by Sheikh Professor Sidi Muhammad Nasib Muhammad bin Nasib bin Raslan Al-Ghalibi Al-Sha’iri.
He was born in Jaghbub on Thursday, Rabi’ al-Awwal 5, 1354 AH / June 6, 1935 AD.
He immigrated to Siwa with the people of Jaghbub, when he was five years old, during World War II.
He returned to Al-Jaghbub in 1944, and joined the writers of Al-Zawiya when he was nine years old. He read the Qur’an to His Eminence Sheikh Bouzid Al-Ghamari, and completed the entire Holy Qur’an on his own hands with the narration of Warsh on the authority of Imam Nafi’, and he threw away his tablet months before the death of his sheikh in the year (1369 AH / 1950 AD).
He joined the Sayyid Muhammad bin Ali Al-Senussi Religious Institute in Al-Bayda in 1952, where he was among the first graduating class.
In 1961, he joined the Faculty of Sharia at the University of Sayyid Muhammad bin Ali Al-Senussi, and was among the outstanding students in the first year. He and the rest of the first five were honored to perform the Hajj in 1962, accompanied by his sheikh, the King: Idris Al-Senussi.
He obtained a degree in Islamic law in 1965, after which he was appointed director of the branch of the Sayyid Muhammad bin Ali Al-Senussi Religious Institute in Al-Jaghbub. He established a department for Islamic missions.
He joined the Department of Postgraduate Studies at Al-Jaghbub in the same year, and obtained a Master’s degree in Islamic Studies in 1967.
I give a general license, and a special license in the Sanusi order, from King: Idris Al-Senussi, who narrates on the authority of his father, Sayyid: Muhammad Al-Mahdi, and he is on the authority of his father, Sayyed: Muhammad bin Ali Al-Sanusi, may God Almighty have mercy on them.
I also give a general license and a special license in the method and some narrations and writings, from Sayyid: Ahmad bin Idris bin Al-Sayyid: Muhammad Abed Al-Sharif Al-Sanussi, who narrates on the authority of his uncle, Sayyed: Ahmad Al-Sharif Al-Sanusi, and on the authority of Al-Sayyid: Idris Al-Sanusi.
After the September 1969 coup, the religious institute in Jaghbub was closed. He was appointed principal of Al-Jaghbub Preparatory School.
In the late seventies, he was dismissed from state service. Because the regime was known for its hostility to Sanusism and everything related to it.
He was arrested more than seven times, in different detention centers, for varying periods, one of which amounted to nine months in the Jdeidah Political Prison in Tripoli, and the last of which he spent seven years in Abu Salim Prison. Unfortunately, this prosecution and these arrests limited us from benefiting from him and increasing his knowledge.
Since his release from prison in 2002, he has been residing in Jaghbub serving visitors, the Sanusi brothers, and their lovers, where he was known for his good hospitality and unparalleled generosity.
He granted a number of his brothers a general license, and a special license in the Sanusi order, and some of the writings of Ibn al-Senussi, and some of them gave a special license in the Holy Qur’an with its chain of transmission linked to Ibn al-Senussi to our master, the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace.
He died in Jaghbub and was buried there on Wednesday, November 24, 2021. May God Almighty have mercy on him and may God reward him with all the best on behalf of the country and its people.
